ALTeR’s STUDENTS
ALTeR is committed to building an active student community and supporting the academic and professional development of its students. The Centre creates opportunities for students to engage directly with its work through participation in research activities, collaborative projects, and Centre-led initiatives. Students may contribute as research assistants and collaborators, gaining exposure to live research questions and applied work at the intersection of law, innovation, and technology.
Our Approach
As part of our commitment to a thriving student environment, we work closely with student organisations and actively foster our ALTeR Student Community through regular meetings and ongoing communication. Students are active and valued members of the Centre’s work, supporting our research, contributing blog posts, and helping to shape and drive several of our initiatives.

Student Involvement
Student involvement goes beyond research assistance. They pitch new ideas and projects that support how we share and apply our research, and they have contributed to podcast production, event planning and delivery, workshops, and student-focused sessions.
Professional Development
We support students into the profession by vetting candidates for law firms and working with our partners to create unique internships and placements, alongside regular opportunities to meet practitioners and build professional networks.
Input & Collaboration
We welcome student-led initiatives that engage with the Centre’s work, and we are always keen to hear ideas that help turn research into action.
